An invitation to learn more about plans for a new bio-energy facility

Meridian Biogas are drawing up plans for a new zero-carbon biogas plant near Thriplow, which will provide sustainable energy and support the local rural economy.

Meridian Biogas Limited is a subsidiary of Future Biogas Limited, who are a leading UK producer of biomethane, owning and operating facilities across the country.

Biomethane is a clean alternative to North Sea and imported fossil fuel gas. It is generated using bioenergy crops from local farmers, which are grown sustainably as part of crop rotations that also produce food.

Our biomethane is injected directly into the national network, replacing fossil fuel gas and helping to cut dangerous greenhouse gas emissions.

The proposed site for our planned new Meridian Biogas facility is located off the A505 south of the village of Thriplow. It has been identified as a suitable location as it benefits from good road access, a nearby gas network connection, local growing opportunities for bioenergy crops and a variety of other factors.

We will be holding a drop-in exhibition on Friday, 7th June at Thriplow Village Hall, Middle St, Thriplow, SG8 7RD, from 2pm to 7:30pm. This will be an opportunity to find out more about the proposals, meet the project team, and ask any questions you may have.

Alternatively, if you are not able to attend in person, the consultation material from the event will also be available to view on this website from the same date.

We would welcome your feedback, which can be submitted via the survey on our website, or by contacting the project team directly via the details below. Your comments will help us as we come closer to finalising our plans, before submission of a planning application to South Cambridgeshire District Council for consideration.

The team are currently seeking the advice of South Cambridgeshire District Council on environmental matters. As a result, some material relating to the proposals may appear on the council’s planning portal. Please be assured that a formal planning application will not be submitted until after we have sought and considered the views of the community.
